We had such a wonderful first day of camp! The cubs got to participate in all kinds of fun Wild West activities. In Handicraft, they made den flags and tye-dye bandanas. During BBs and Archery, they learned all the rules and got to practice shooting for the first time. In sports, some cubs worked on their kickball beltloop, while others worked on their badminton beltloop. The cubs loved their extra long periods of Waterfront (we extended Waterfront time so that each den will get 90 mins every day). During Scoutcraft, they learned to tie a lasso and even rounded up so "horses." Finally, the cubs helped out in Nature by planting a garden.

Throughout the week, your cubs will be earning lots of beltoops and achievements that will help them toward their next rank. We will send home a list of requirements they have completed. Your cubs will also be earning beads in each area for participating. They can earn special beads by following the Cub Scout Promise and Law and by participating in other challenges. One of our fun challenges we started was to look for "Paco the Pig Bandit" all throughout camp. If they find Paco the Pig, they receive a purple paco bead (say that 10 times fast!).

Please remember to send your camper to camp with a water bottle as this week will be very hot and humid. Don't forget a bathingsuit, towel, bug spray, sunscreen, and a lunch. Keep following our blog for daily updates, photos, and important information!
See you tomorrow!
